What we collect
Search queries
Search terms are sent to our server to run the search. We cache results in memory for up to ten minutes to reduce load on upstream sources. We do not build profiles of the people you search for, and we do not link searches to you.
Server logs
Our server records standard request data (IP address, timestamp, path, user agent) for security and rate limiting. IP addresses are held in memory for rate-limiting purposes and discarded after 30 minutes of inactivity.
Removal requests
If you submit a removal or correction request, we store the name, email address and details you provide so that we can process it and keep a record of the outcome. This is used only for that purpose.
Advertising cookies
We use Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info/choices. See how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
What we do not do
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not require an account, and we do not ask for a name, phone number or address to search.
- We do not notify anyone that they have been searched for.
- We do not maintain a private database of individuals compiled from searches.
- We do not charge for removals, so we have no incentive to retain records about people.
Third-party sources
Searches are executed against third-party services including CourtListener (Free Law Project) and GDELT. Those services receive the search terms and have their own privacy policies. Links in the state directory take you to government sites governed by their own policies.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, and to opt out of sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share). To exercise any of these rights, contact contact@example.com. We will respond within the period required by applicable law.
Security
We use HTTPS and standard security headers. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted to us.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected in the effective date below.
